Standing up flights

This is the project presented by the italian company Avioninteriors in the Plane Interiors Fair in California. The aim is to save space and therefore economize the flight. It is, therefore, specially designed for low cost airlines, such as Ryanair, whose director has already shown his interest for the idea.

The seats reduce space between pasangers from 80 to 58 cm. The person will have to be almost standing up, but with back and behind rested on something similar to a cowboys saddle. This will probably enable the airline to reduce the cost of each ticket but it is still waiting to be tested, specially in the security area. Experts in the matter say it is very difficult that this kind of seat complies with all the safety requirements.
