With most part of the fencing already up, the fairground and stands all set up and mounted, the street vendors and street stands all in place, the bar cellars filled to the brim, and thousands of tourists from all over the place already strolling through the streets of the old quarter of the city… all the classic indications are in place to tell us that there is now very little time to go before Iruñea-Pamplona turns into the world capital of a wild party scene that will last over the next nine uninterrupted days.
In spite of the economic crisis, over the last few days Pamplona has been filling up with people and the unmistakable smell of Sanfermin is in the air. Practically everything is in readiness and nothing is lacking so that on the 6th of July everyone can get soaked in the party atmosphere. The official program has been trimmed a little but practically all the shows and spectacles are the same as other years. The txupinazo opening rocket will be set off by the recently-installed new mayor of Pamplona, Enrique Maya and in addition, this year will see the first attempt at prohibiting entrance to City Hall square to anyone carrying bottles of champagne or cava or any other kind of glass vessels.
The running of the bulls will, as always, be the strongest pull of the fiestas, with most of the bull-breeds such as Cebada Gago, Dolores Aguirre and Miura repeating as regular visitors to Pamplona, with the exception of the Torrestrella who return this year after being absent over the past several years.
Dont lose the opportunity to know one of the most tipical fiesta of the spanish culture!
