A good idea

It is sure you know quite a few restaurants you could recommend right now if you were asked where to go for dinner. However, there are probably some other restaurants that you have been and that you liked but you can’t remember their names or you don’t recall exactly how to get there.

The solution is easy and cheap and will help you find and remember the restaurants you like easily, in your city and when travelling:

- Whenever you go to a restaurant, pub or café you like ask for the place’s card.

- Write on the card any suggestions, what you liked about the place, what you didn’t…

- Keep it together with all the other cards, in a card holder, and album or something like that.

-If someone asks you where to go or you don’t know what to do one night just take a look at your album and you’ll get some brilliant ideas, you will never forget anything!

Walk of Fame, 50 years old.

Walk of FameFor those who do not know, The Walk of Fame is a sidewalk along Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. It is decorated with more than 2,000 five-pointed stars featuring the names of celebrities honoured by their contributions to the entertainment industry. This place celebrates its 50th birthday and will be having special events and parties.

The proyect was first announced in 1953 but it wasn’t until 1958 when a model of the Walk was presented in a Ceremony organised by the Chamber of Commerce of LA. The first eight starts were also presented during this act. After some legal problems it was started on 1960 and finished during spring 1961.

This year 2010 is specially important to the Walk because it celebrates its first half century. There will be a great festival in June and a special and exclusive party in November.

    Did you know…?

MobileMobile phones have been very possitive in our lives, the fact of being able to call anyone from anywhere in the world and now internet, camera, music… However, there are some secrets very well kept about these devices, want to find out?

    - Mobile phones do not provoke plane crashes. Probably more than one of us has left the mobile on during a flight by accident and nothing happens, there are no proves of plane problems related to mobile phones. However, we do not want our readers to leave their phones on! We just thought it was a secret we might share with you!
    - Mobile phones can give you away. It is very easy to find your location if you have your mobile phone switched on, the only thing needed is the coordinate of the last tower to which your phone connected, that will give you a very precise clue of the area you are in! Moreover, the geolocation information of your mobilphone is not private, which means mobilephone companies can sell it to thirds.

Our conclusion: Mobile phones do have benefits but also have secrets, some we have said today, some others we don’t know, be aware!

What should never be missing in your luggage?

    Luggage
Good travellers are those who know exactly what to put inside their bags, not extra clothes or less than the necessary, just what is strictly needed. Today we will list some of the basic things that you should never forget when packing:

Toothbrush and other toiletries. If you are travelling with a lowcost flight and you are only going to bring hand luggage, toiletries should be in a transparent plastic bag and you will have to take them out for the security control.

Pyjamas or whatever you sleep in. An essential item of clothing.

Underwear. It may sound obvious but some people forget about it when packing fast.

Phone and camera charger. They are also basics but, as they are small and they are normally plugged in there is a possibility we might forget to bring them with us.

Bathing suit. It doesn’t matter if you are travelling north or south, it takes no space and you never know where you will end up (a pool, a spa…a bet to see who is the bravest getting in the sea in December…)

    Passport or Identity Card-

Moreover if you want to be one of those perfect travellers you should plan ahead what you will be wearing each day of the trip (and maybe even list it). This way you will be certain of having the exact amount of clothes for the holiday!

Some time ago we talked about the iPad, the new gadget that apple presented to the world as the solution to everything. The apple device that may revolutionise travel guides and inflight enterteinment will not be available in UK until the end of the month.

Although this weekend it will be on sale in the US, new technology lovers in the UK will have to wait until the end of April to discover the applications and how useful this device is. It is still uncertain how much we will have to pay to be one of the firsts to have the iPad at home, however we hope to hear opinions from our readers: Is it the solution to everything? Is it as useful as we thought travelling-wise? Unless we travel to the US we will have to wait yet another month to find out!

    Train Strike

Be aware! A four-day national rail strike will bring chaos to Britain’s transport system on the day that millions return to work after the Easter bank holiday, the first one in 16 years. At least it is not going to be during Easter, so dont worry if you were planning to travel around the country in holidays or just go back home.

Plan those days knowing it will be really difficult to get a train, so if you were thinking of going somewhere in England between the 6th and the 9th you better find alternatives to this means of transport
