Beijing’s new means of transport

By the end of the year there will be a brand new vehicle in Beijing. It will be a mixture between a bus and a train, on rails but running on the road. The best of it? Cars can drive under it so that there will be no space taken by this very special tramway. It will, therefore, save petrol (of the buses that will not operate), save space, pollute less and save time to the people in traffic jams.

People who visit the Tian’namen Square, the Forbidden City or the Great Wall will be able to get on this great new invention at the end of the year. Do not hesitate to make your reservation in a hotel now!

Be charmed by Nice

When talking about Nice, the simple fact of being a city on the French Riviera is a good reason to find it appealing. We could say that the city is divided into two areas, clearly shown by the character of the buildings, streets, etc. The modern area of Nice is well known for its classic wide avenues, parks, gardens and pedestrian areas, together with the presence of the principal shops of the city, which makes it an attractive commercial area. On the other hand, the old area of the city has more charm, with attractive facades and fully refurbished buildings in an intricate balance with one another. Don’t forget to take a stroll down the impressive Maritime Promenade, which is known as Promenade des Anglais: here you can find the famous Hotel Negresco, which was built in 1912 and nowadays is the highlight of the city.

And, among other things, just let yourself appreciate the special light in Mediterranean cities, a clear reflection of the blue sea… no wonder the name was given to the French Riviera coast, Côte d’Azur (blue coast). In one word, Nice is a Mediterranean city with authentic charm.

Book your hotel in Nice.

Beaches in the cities

A few years ago you had to drive some miles from cities like Paris, Berlin or Madrid to find a beach and have a swim. But a few years ago, urban beaches are appearing on some european cities.

In Madrid you can taste the flavor of the sea in a salt water swimming pool at a few miles from city center, in the suburb town of Parla. It is only opened during the summer, but you can enjoy a day at the beach and tan your skin without leaving Madrid.

In “Paris Plages” you cannot swin, because it is strictly prohibited to dive in the rivers, but you can lie in a deckchair and get your skin tanned for a few hours. But Paris-Plages is more than just an artificial beach, you have lots of performances, activities for kids etc. For further information check out : www.paris-plages.fr

Berlin is the is another european city in which you can enjoy the beach even if the weather is not always very sunny. In the IndoorBeachCenter you will enjoy a sweet temperature all year long, where you can practice sports like beach-volleyball or just relax in a deckachair. All the details on : www.beachberlin.de

You have no excuse to go to the beach!

Feria de Málaga 2010

Want some sea, sun and party? If you are going to the Costa del Sol this week, you will have the possibility to enjoy the beaches, the sun and the fair.

Malaga’s Fair is divided in two zones : the day fair in the city center and the night fair in Cortijo Torres (a suburb district). By day, the city center swarms with people, you can enjoy performances of verdiales, the most characteristic local variant of flamenco, and more modern music (rock, pop). You can have lunch at one of the various stands and taste all the wines of Malaga. For the party lovers, you can go clubbing until 6:00 p.m. quite an unsual time isn’t it?

After a deserved rest, you can enjoy the feria by night. You have very diferent stans where you can eat, drink, dance and enjoy performances of Flamenco. An of course you have rides and attractions like for children and grown-up.

You can enjoy Malaga’s fair until 22nd Agust 2010.

Costa Brava Travel Guide

COSTA BRAVA

The coastline of Costa Brava is extensive, that is why seeing it all in a couple of days is not an easy thing to do. The best thing is to get to know it little by little, by stopping off at spots like Tossa de Mar while we travel around the south, a coastal town that keeps its original essence of a small fishing village. It is worth visiting some other localities like Blanes, Santa Susana, Calella and Pineda de Mar, and so on.

One more recommendation would be visiting the Medes Islands Natural Reserve, made up of seven islands, with access by boat from L’Estartit port. Here you can find amazing wildlife, both flora and fauna.

Travel Insurance: now we take it into account

The volcanic eruption in Iceland was almost four months ago, however it has changed some of the british consumer’s minds as we now pay more attention to travel insurance and what it covers. The ash cloud caused a chaos all over Europe and we do not want it to be repeated: some had to travel by car, some others had to take ferries or the train back home. This situation has changed people’s mind and although most of us still prefer to go for the cheap option, a percentage of Brits say now that they prefer paying more and having everything covered.

In the same line, most holidaymakers hope travel insurance will cover them if they fall ill abroad. It is a very good idea to check before leaving what is covered and what is not so there are no surprises back home.

Costa Daurada has a lot to say

When talking about Costa Daurada, for many people its beaches are the first thing that come to mind and, of course, the famous theme park Port Aventura. And yes, it’s certainly true that spread along its coastline there are many beaches and small coves where you can enjoy being under the sun, or indulge in a pleasant swim and have a drink at one of the many beachside snack bars. Of course, during your stay you can’t miss out on visiting Port Aventura, where you can enjoy all day long with your family, partner or friends.

And we can’t forget about the rich gastronomy of this region with its delicious fish and rice specialities. Also scattered along the coast are small and charming fishing villages, which breathe with tradition. We recommend you to visit the Ebro Delta Natural Park, with many wildlife species (especially birds) and flora. Summing up, there’s no doubt that Costa Daurada offers a wide variety of options for you to choose between and have a great holiday.  Search your hotel in Hotelopia
