More options for the Summer, our last post was about T in the park, today we have a different option: ROCKNESS.

The festival will take place on the 11th and 12th of June in Dores, a village close to Inverness in the Scothish Highlands. The line up includes groups and musicians like kasabian the Chemical Brothers, Paolo Nutini, and many others that cannot be missed.

This year, music lovers are being encouraged to ‘Respect the ‘Ness’ by taking advantage of ‘GO GREEN’ tickets, these include free coach travel from all the major cities in the UK.

If you want to know more about the festival, ticket prices, etc. Visit rockness.co.uk and for your accomodation don’t forget to visit hotelopia.com.

World Heritage Sites in UK

Did you know there are more than 20 places around the United Kingdom that are World Heritage?

Castles, gardens, cathedrals or bridges, there are sites around the country that are considered spaces of exceptional universal value. So, again, tourism is not always about travelling very far away, but also discovering places that are “just around the corner”, those where our ancestors fought or prayed and that are now visited by people from all around the world.

To find out what the UNESCO has considered important enough to be in the list, click here. And enjoy a revival of the past!

Today’s doodle…Sir Ernst Shackleton, a great explorer

Traveling is not only moving from one place to another. It is more than that. Adventure and exploring are part of it and today google reminds us one of the most important explorer in the Antarctic Exploration, Ernst Shackleton, who was borned on a 15th of February in 1874. For us, hotelopers who love traveling around the globe, people like him, who was borned to explore, are an image to respect and imitate.

Ernst Shackleton was an Anglo-Irish explorer, he was a romantic adventurer, who became interested in exploration and joined the Royal Geographical Society while still at sea. After Captain Scott died during an attempt to reach the South Pole in 1912,Sir Ernest Shackleton, , chose to tackle the challenge of Antarctica in a different way. He decided he would attempt to journey across the icy continent from one side to the other via the South Pole. Him, and 3 companions stablished the record of the farthest ever South latitude in 19 and he was knighted for it.
Remember, as Henry Miller once said “One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.”
