International Museum Day has been celebrated all over the world since 1977, each year with a different theme. The event provides the opportunity for museum professionals to meet the public and for the public to know more about museums.

This celebration is held each year on 18 May and almost every museum has some kind of activity to celebrate it (special exhibitions, guided visits, talks…). These activities are organised for both adults and children, some of them related to the theme of the year ‘Museums for social harmony’.

So, wherever you are, take a break and visit the closest museum to celebrate this cultural event!
